I came to the world in Bayburt, where my father, a member of the Eyüboğlu family, settled in Trabzon Maçka district, did his patriotic service as a doctor. I completed my primary education, which I started in Istanbul - Mimar Sinan Primary School in 1963, in İnegöl Gazi Paşa Primary School in 1967 - 68.
1968 - 69 academic year I started my secondary education in Inegol High School.
1973 - 74 academic year I graduated from Inegol High School.
In 1975, I entered Istanbul University Edirne Faculty of Medicine. In 1976, I attended the English programme in England - Cambridge (King's College). I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in 1981 and received the title of "Doctor of Medicine". I worked as a voluntary assistant in Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty General Surgery Clinic for one year in 1981 - 82.
In 1982, I started to work as a permanent assistant in the same clinic.
In 1986, I visited Johns Hopkins University and St.Agnes Hospitals in Baltimore, United States of America in order to increase my knowledge and experience in colorectal surgery and surgical intensive care.
In 1986, I became a specialist in General Surgery with my thesis titled "The Place of Anterior Resection in the Treatment of Rectal Cancers". In the same year, I started my compulsory service as a general surgery specialist in Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty General Surgery Clinic Emergency Service Unit.
On 02 October 1989, I was promoted to Associate Professor and started to work at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery.
In 1990, I was in Baltimore, United States of America in order to gain experience in laparoscopic surgery and in 1992 in laparoscopic colon surgery. I did my patriotic service at GATA Haydarpaşa Training Hospital in 1992 and took an active role in the introduction of laparoscopic surgery in the general surgery clinic.
In 1993, I performed the first laparoscopic left colon resection in Turkey.
In 1993, I organised a large-scale laparoscopic surgery course with the contribution of Istanbul University.
In November 1995, I applied for a professorship at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty and was appointed as a professor in March 1996.

In 2000, I founded the "Gastroesophageal Reflux Association" and I am the chairman of the board of directors of this association.
I travelled to Tübingen, Germany in December 2004 to study transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM).
I was appointed as the Emergency Unit Coordinator in 2005. In the same year, I was appointed as the Senator of Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine to the University Senate. As of 15 November 2005, I was appointed as the acting Dean of Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine and continued this duty. On 13 January 2006, I started to work as the Head of the Department of Surgical Medical Sciences at Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. I am a member of Istanbul University Academic Structuring Continuous Commission. Apart from these duties, I am still a faculty member at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery.
I speak English, I am married and have two children.
