Sils

Laparoscopic surgery, which allows surgeons to put the scalpel aside, has made significant progress in the last three years. In a sense, we can say that the era of open surgery is over. In 'laparoscopic surgery', which is used in many areas of medicine, we now perform surgeries by entering the body through a single hole, with the method called 'SILS' (Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery).

This method, which was first applied in the world in 2007, is the laparoscopic surgery method as we know it. The difference is that it is applied through a single hole (the belly button) rather than 4 or 5 holes.

What is Sils?

All kinds of surgeries performed in classical laparoscopic surgery can also be performed with the SILS method. Gallbladder surgeries are now almost routinely performed using the SILS method.

In addition, the SILS method is currently used for reflux, obesity, morbid obesity and appendicitis surgeries. We are sure that this method will be used in all surgeries performed with classical laparoscopy in the future. This is a development and as of today, these four surgeries are performed with the SILS method in our country and in our hospital.
